Science Wonders for Kids

My 6 yr old daughter is very curious about science and is always asking me questions, which I can't ever answer. I suggested that she create her own blog and post her questions and thoughts on it and perhaps she will get feedback. She came up with the name of the website herself.

It's Science Wonders for Kids at http://sciencewonders4kids.blogspot.com/.

We still need to fine tune the site, but she still wanted to post some of her recent questions.

Please check it out and if you or your kids know any of the answers, she would love to hear from you.

I think that is just the greatest thing I have read in ages! Kudos to you for taking advantage of a teachable moment and to your daughter for rising to the challenge! And now I'm off to check it out...:)

I don't see a place to leave comments on your daughter's fabulous web page so I will respond to one of her questions here.
The blue part of the flame is technically the hottest part, however the tip of the flame will light something on fire faster. There can be a green color in a flame (depending on how much or how little fuel and oxygen is available.) I'm not quite sure how much information you want - it can be kind of complicated, especially for a six year old :)

It's kinda hard to answer the questions when comments are disabled...

Thanks guys for looking at the site. Sorry, I never even realized that I didn't get that far in setting it up. I will go over it with her this week.

I recently figured out that the reason The PT gives me such a hard time about washing her ears is that she thinks the water will enter her brain.

This led to a long conversation about brains, ears, and eardrums, and a little web surfing for pictures on the internet (and a 3d rotatable brain--ewwww).

Great idea, but definitely enable the comments.

PT - Wow...how interesting. It's amazing what goes on in their minds especially with their great imaginations.

It's a great reminder to not jump the gun and get upset with them for being stubborn and actually stop and ask what's behind their hestitation.

I just thought of this and I need to ask my daughter, but perhaps she would enjoy having other kids, perhaps from this wonderful group, as contributors to her website.

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for telling me about the flames. It helped me now know that some flames can be green and some flames can be blue.
