Memory

I'm setting up a DVD for Rivka, 5.

Rivka: I want "Pony friends at the Park."

Me: We haven't rented this video in months - you can remember the name of the specific episode you want to see?

Rivka: Of course, Daddy. I don't remember what you tell me to do, but I remember shows.

She's five and doesn't know how to use the DVD player herself? She's supposed to be more tech-savvy than you! ;o)

Because of the configuration of the "entertainment cabinet," the player is way up high. I wish she could reach it - save me the trouble.

So true. The PT still remembers that we left her stuffed bear in a motel room in Toledo when she was two.

She's going to take that to the grave, I think.

If we made DVDs of ourselves teaching our kids what we'd like them to do (either more frequently or even just once in a while), do you think they'd watch it and remember it?

Somehow I don't think I could compete with Clifford, Arthur, or the newest favorite: CyberChase.
